2LT Thomas Eric Shannon was mortally wounded during distinguished service to his country on 3/22/1967 in Pleiku Province South Vietnam. He was a good and honorable man and received many commendations from his Country and from the soldiers he served with. His heroic service earned him a Bronze Star and Purple Heart when he was wounded in 1966, and a Silver Star and Purple Heart posthumously when he made the ultimate sacrifice for his country in 1967.  The class of 1962 honors him and thanks him for his service.  May he rest in peace.

March 28, 1944 Goodyear AZ US Retired Married 2 Highland Jr. High
After graduation, I worked for Waldorf Paper Co. and then later for the City of St. Paul.  I have been married to Bob Lang for 49 years.  We have 2 children and 2 grandchildren.
I graduated from the University of Minn. with a degree in Physical Therapy in 1975.  In 1981, I completed my MBA which allowed me to do both physical therapy treatments but also to work in an administrative capacity.
When Bob retired in 2001, we moved to Goodyear Arizona. I began tap and jazz dancing after moving to Arizona and am now part of a dance troupe.  We perform for musical productions within our community and for benefits and other functions outside the community.
Over the years, we have traveled extensively mostly to Europe, UK, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.  We have been coming back to Mn. at least once a year to see family.  Retirement has been wonderful.  We have no problem keeping busy and it is nice to have the time to do what we want.

bench234@gmail.com Carmichael CA US Retired psychotherapist Married 2 Maddox, Highland Park Jr. High

I graduated the U of M in 1966, married and moved to Palo Alto while my husband finished school. We then lived in San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Denver before settling in Sacramento in ‘73. During that time I taught elementary school.

We have 2 children, Julie born in '69,  Jonathan in '71. I went to graduate school in clinical social work in '74 and received an MSW. I worked 30 years as a mental health professional in a hospital setting spending 9 years in inpatient psychiatry, 14 years in oncology and bone marrow transplant and the rest of the years covering every unit in the hospital.

We built an empty nester house with future grandchildren in mind 19 yrs. ago which is great now that our three grandchildren come from out of town to visit.

We have traveled all over the world.

I am retired and loving it. I am so busy now that I don't know how I ever had time to work. I have served on several boards. I love to work out, cook, and bake and to read.  We have belonged to a book group for over 20 years and meet every month.  I enjoy technology and computers. My friends all turn to me for advice, which is a joke because I am really not a techie, but I guess it is all relative.

I do love coming back to visit Minnesota where I still have family. I so appreciate the lakes, foliage and gorgeous architecture in the twin cities. I must say, the two things I do not miss are the Minnesota winters and the mosquitoes.  I look forward to the reunion and meeting old friends.

50 years...hard to believe!  Like everyone my life has been made up of many chapters.  I attended the U of M for 3 years and then transferred to the U of M Hospital to get a Xray Tech degree, which is what I always wanted.  I married a medical student and lived in St. Paul while he finished medical school and intership and then moved to Lexington, KY for 5 years for his surgical residency.  Then back to St. Louis Park .  After 27 years of marriage we were divorced.  We have 2 wonderful children, a daughter living in St. Louis Park who is the mother of my 2 delightful grandsons (6yrs and8 1/2 yrs) who keep me young and a son who lives in San Francisco and works in the dotcom industry.  In the 80's I went back to school to get a degree in Social Work.  Over the years I have worked as a Social Worker, a receptionist, a Convention Services Representative for the Mpls. Convention Bureau and currently at a stationery store in Edina.  That brings me to today....I live with a wonderful man with whom I have been in a relationship for many years.  I continue to take classes, volunteer, travel and enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  Life has been good!  I really look forward to seeing everyone in August. I was on schedule to graduate from Central in 1961,but in September,1960,at the beginning of my senior year I quit school to run away and join the Marines.Instead,Christ found me/I found Him.I then returned and graduated with  you all.Three weeks after graduation I entered the Army and proudly served for three years.I then spent a very rewarding twenty eight year career with the Minnesota State Patrol.I retired in 1998 and have done a lot of volunteer work since .The most rewarding has been as a co-facilitator of a divorce recovery group called divorcecare.(web site:divorcecare.org).After being divorced it was through this group that I found the healing from the incredible trauma that divorce can cause.Words cannot describe the honor it is to be a part of such a healing ministry, and the joy to see people, some that are hurting so bad that they would just as soon die, find hope.I have five wonderful children and five beautiful grandchildren.I am extremely blessed!!God is good!! I was married in 1967 to Robert Lobash and we had two children, Lynn and Peter.  We devorced in 1976.  In 1980 my children and I moved to Santa Rosa, CA.  where I worked for Exchange Bank for 20 years.  In July of 2001 I moved back to MN to help with the care of my Mother.  My children are grown, my son lives in CA. still and my daughter and her family (including 2 grand children) live in Brooklyn NY.

In 2009 I met my now husband, James Rippberger and we got married on June 25th 2011.

April 07, 1944 rrzinn@comcast.net Golden CO US Hospice nurse Married 3 Gordon
I married Dick Zinn (class '61) in 1966 at the completion of Nursing school at Swedish Hospital, Mpls. We moved to Baltimore where he attended the U of MD Dental school and then we settled in Golden, CO. He is retired and I am mostly retired from nursing. I work occasionally for a hospice from which I retired . We had 3 daughters- the oldest is in Mpls and has 1 son 3 1/2, the next is in Denver with 2 sons 7 and 2 1/2, and our youngest daughter is in Clive, IA (Des Moines suburb) with 3 sons 7, 4, and 1 1/2.  I love Grandma times and will help out whenever asked.

We have fun visiting family, antiquing, I sew (made all 3 wedding dresses), sing in the church choir, jigsaw puzzles, and gardening.

I remember the winter of the bus strike and we had to walk to school ( a mile) so they relented and girls could wear pants to school. I also remember being in choir with Miss Denzel and the minutemaids and marching in the winter carnival.

I am sorry I am unable to make it to the reunion but hope you all have a wonderful time reminiscing. I welcome emails  to say hello, etc.

It's impossible this is reunion 50. I'm only 55 years old! It is amazing seeing all my classmates. Unfortunately I will not be able to make the reunion. I will be home (in Minnesota) July 10th and 11th so if anyone wants to get together for lunch or dinner, let me know. I'm still working. I have two years left. I love seeing what everyone looks like now. Enjoy the reunion. I'll be at the 75th.
More about me: Graduated from University of Iowa in 1966 with a BA and San Francisco State with a MA. I have spent 45 years in teaching; just retired June, 2015.  I am enjoying retirement traveling the world. Graduating from St. Paul Central in the early 60s gave me the best education I could possibly have. It made me the successful person I am today. I love my life.

Maxinesyr@gmail.com Los Angeles CA US Retired - CFO Married Randolph
I am so proud to have been a member of this class.  Unfortunately, I will not be at the reunion.
After HS, I attended the U of M and lived at Comstock with my dear friend, Marcy Shapiro. While at the U , I met my husband, John, a "Ranger" from Chisholm. In 1972, we moved to Los Angeles  so John could attend USC Film school while I continued working  and took accounting classes at UCLA.  I received my CPA, worked as auditor for KPMG and for 24 years was CFO at Jefferies, stock brokerage.  I have had wonderful visits over the years with Marcy, Sondy, Marda, Andrea and others. I enjoy your updates and the memory jogs.
Reading the list of departed classmates was so surprising and sad. The hardest thing in my life was losing my dear brother, Bernie Statland in 2004 to brain cancer,  He was a graduate of Central and U OF M Medical and Law Schools.
I am happy to report I enjoy retirement and living in West LA.  My activities include walking and Pilates.
