On the first day of summer I was enjoying lunch with Central friends on the W.A. Frost patio in St. Paul. We were discussing the REUNION…who was going, what to wear, who would drive…just like high school! It felt like nothing had changed.
On the other hand, there have been many changes in the last 50 years. I’ve certainly had my share of joys as well as sorrows, but I can honestly say that I’ve enjoyed each decade of my life with very few regrets. I’ve had a rewarding teaching career, a supportive husband, two great kids, two adorable grandchildren, loyal friends, many enriching life experiences and a strong faith. As Abraham Lincoln said, “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the LIFE in your years.” Eighteen years ago during our 50-year “birthday” reunion, I was in the hospital recovering from a Bone Marrow Transplant. This year I’m looking forward to celebrating the LIFE in our last 50 years by reconnecting with classmates from the class of 1962. |

Having a great life ... Life is good ... Fishing beats golf any day ...Cycling & travel takes Ms Becky & I (together for 30+ years) to many wonderful exciting places. My buddy Oscar enjoys our travels. 50 years, as we all know, is a very long time. But why did those years go by sooooo fast? One of my many beleifs, change is good ... The images are changing. Fun is a big part of my life. I've been in the same industry for over 30 years, started my own business 17 years ago and each day is fun, pleasant and rewarding. The "Then" Image is me & Oscar ... The "Now" image is me & Ms Becky ... More changes soon ... |

Growing up several blocks from the largest city high school at that time, I was fortunate to attend for four years and graduate from St. Paul Central in 1962. I enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1964 and spent the next three years in Germany. Following military service, attendance at the College of St. Thomas resulted in an economic degree in 1973. I then began an over 20- year management career with the Veterans’ Administration until retirement. Not ready to stop working, I began another career in sales and supervision with Barnes and Noble in Highland Park until yet another retirement. Calling St. Paul my home, I have participated in soccer, canoeing, golf, biking and running, including marathons. However my current attendance at the 50 year reunion would not be possible without the love and assistance of my sister, Mary Lou, also a Central High School graduate Class of 1968.

Graduated from Univ of MN with a degree in Education. I've been married to Stan for 47 years and can't believe how fast the years have "zoomed" by. I continue to work on a part-time basis helping adults with ESL skills. Jon and Amy, our son and daughter-in-law own "be present", a company in Denver making yoga clothing that's 100% "Made in USA". Our younger son, Benjy owns Benjy Dobrin Studios in Denver and teaches acting to adults and teens. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion and sure hope the name tags have LARGE print!

I'm sorry I didn't do this before. If anyone wants to contact me, my address and phone # in the memory book are wrong, I never lived there. From Central, I went to St.Olaf College and got a degree in English, then in a timely manner decided I was more interested in the medical field. My first job was as a nurses aide in surgery at the university of Minnesota. I loved it, went back to tech school and worked as a Surgical Technician until my arthritis made it hard for me and scary for the patients. Iwas qualified for clerical workdue to my college degree and no experience in it. I worked in the Urology Clinic and Center for Prostate Cancer at u. of Mn physicians until I retired in Jan 2012, 3 mo short of 46 years. I hhave had my share of medical challenges including the arthritis since 1979, total knee replacement 1998, kidney transplant 2004, and double Coronary Artery Bypass 2009, but still plugging along. Because of all the medical issues I decided to do some traveling while I can. In the last 4 years I have done 3 majot road trips on my own 2008 to the Southeast, 2010 out West and 2011 Northeast, did lots of fun things helicopter rides, jet boats on the rapids at Niagara Falls, open cockpit biplane ride, glider plane ride, train rides etc. Imade 1 trip to Europe, Germany, A little into Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein and 6 days in Italy. Loved it Hobbies, love plays and movies, scrapbooking my trips and old family photos, cross stitching(a little more challenging now for seeing such small stuff) and singing in the church choir. I am a huge Minnesota Twns fan and have actually sung at the Metrodome Twins games 4 times. I did the Canafian National Anthem in 2001, the U.S. National Anthem in 2002. In 2004 I had my 60th birthday at the Metrdome at a game. On my guest list was Ron Gardenhire who came up after the game. We had 3 suites and extra seats, abou 175 people and there I led God Bless America, and did an encore God Bless America for my 65th birthday in 2009. I've at least partial season tickets for 24 years. If anyone comes to a game at Target Field and would like to visit, my seat is in sect 125 seat 10. It is in the back in the handicapped seating so no stairs and room to talk without disturbing others. I am currently going to games, movies, plays, the zoos, the science museum, taking online classes and whatever I feel like and thoroughly enjoying my retirement. I highly recommend it to those who haven't tried it. Enjoy life and appreciate people while you can. As kirby puckett said "Tomorrow is't guaranteed to anyone". Love to all the reunion was great. my demographic info is wrong in the menory bok. ADDRESS; 1625 W. MINNEHAHA AVE #103, ST.PAUL,MN 55105, PHONE 651-644-1976, EMAIL; seetfan53@hotmail.com |

It would take too long to share my life story so I will focus on just a few things.I attended the U of M for two years and have continued to take college classes for enrichment throughout the years. I became a flt. att. for NWA in 1964. I flew for 13 yrs., resigned for 13 yrs., and then returned in 1990 and flew another 13 years. I did not return to my flt. att. job after 9/11. I love retirement! My biggest and best blessing has always been and is my two children and family. I have also had a life rich and full of deep and meaningful friendships. I was single for eighteen years after a 27 year marriage ended. In January of this year I married my best friend and soul mate, Mark Burch. We met at Cross Roads church and share a deep faith in God. Our relationship started out as friends, we dated, became engaged and spent wonderful times together throughout the years. We now look forward to a long and happy married life. Mark and I enjoy ballroom dance, exercise, recumbent and mountain biking along with other activities. Our goal for the future is to do a lot more volunteer work and share the blessings that have been given to us. We use my retiree Delta Airline passes quite often and plan to do more travel, especially during the winter months, once Mark retires from 3M. I look forward to seeing you on Aug. 4th. |
