In 1962 I went to work for Knowlan's Super Markets and with the help of the Knowlan Family, bankers etc purchased the company in 1988.  We opened our first Festival Foods in !989 and today have 7 stores along with Taste of Scandinavia Bakery and Cafes.  I have sold the company to my sister and I am proud of our accomplishments in a fiercely competitive market.  I enjoy golf, fishing, travel accompanied by my 2 Bichons!!  Our weekends are spent in Amery,Wi where we have enjoyed Lake Wapogasset for 47 years.

Thanks to all of the work the reunion committee has done!
I graduated from Gustavus with a bachelors of Science in Nursing and spent 9 months in Europe ($5 a day)!.  I married my college sweetheart Mark and we had 39 wonderful years of travel, boating, golfing, volunteering and raising out two sons and numerous pets.  We moved to Seattle in 1983 when my husband went to work for Apple Computer and then to Whidbey Island where I now live.
Mark passed away of a sudden massive heart attack in 2007 and is missed so much by our family and many friends.
I have worked off and on in various facets of nursing and am still working per diem at a Preop unit in Seattle.
We have two wonderful sons who have their doctorates and are living with their significant others and working in Vancouver BC.  No marriages, divorces or grandchildren yet. My eldest son and I are leaving this week for a trip to Europe and I'm going to Africa (my life long dream) in the fall.
I've been fortunate to be a part of three medical missions to Nicaragua and hope to do more.
I am really looking forward to the reunion as I haven't been to one in 35 years.  Please forgive me if I don't remember your name, but I know each and every one of you played a big part in my life.  We grew up in the very best of times with great families and teachers and activities for all.

It has been a great 50 (!) years since graduation.  I went to college at Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, MN.  There I met and married my husband of 48 years--Tom.  We have two children, one of each, and four wonderful grandchildren.  Tom's job required that we move often--12 times!  We ended up in South Carolina and love it here.  Our children and grandchildren live close to us and we see them often.  Life has been good to us for which we are most grateful.

Hard to believe it's 50 years! I have 5 children and 2 fabulous Granddaughters. My youngest daughter, Leslie, was married last week (Oct. 28). I hope to see some of you at the reunion. I was not that active in High School and was kind of socially shy and not very confident, so I don't know how many of you remember me! If you do, please send me an email

Life after graduation: Continuing my education was always a goal but needing to make a living, I went to work for Midwest Janitoral Service.  I worked full-time for them for two years and in 1964 got married to my first wife and divorced just a year later.
I started working as a mattress filler at Sealy Mattress Company. I was proud to be one of the fastest and best mattress stuffers at the company.  I worked for Sealy until I broke my back in 1975.
In 1972, I had married again.  The back injury did allow me to go back to school and I received my Associate Degree in Child Development in 1980.  Unfortunately, I was unable to find employment in this field to support my family, so I started working at the St. Paul Hotel.  I worked my way from laundry to Stewarding in the 14 years I was there.  I then started working days at Radisson Hotel and nights at the Afton House.  I again divorced but worked hard, continuing at the Afton House until 2007 when I became disabled and retired.
I now count my Blessings.  I married Christine, my loving and supportive wife in 2008.  My three daughters remain a close special part of my life and have given me 7 wonderful grandchildren.
I now enjoy my creative side, making beautiful, one of a kind God's Eyes - a skill I learned during recovering from the back injury.  I enjoy being my own boss and sell my creations at www.averyoriginalsgallery.com.
I am looking forward to seeing friends again at the reunion.

Graduated from University of Minnesota and taught in St. Paul and Mahtomedi, MN. “Retired” to a farm in Forest Lake, MN to raise my son Erik. 1979 moved to Broken Arrow, OK and then in 1990 to Lubbock, TX. “Retired” again after 18 years as Director of Volunteer Services/ Training Resources at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, remarried and moved to Springfield.

Happy highlights of my life are my family and friends, especially my husband Jim, my son Erik, several step children, grandchildren and their families. I love to travel, snorkel, golf, fish, watch birds, garden, volunteer in the communities where I live and teach whenever possible. One deep sadness, in 2001 my twin brother, Harlan Tarbell, died unexpectedly…. he is greatly missed and is always in our hearts. I treasure life and daily blessings.

A favorite quote of mine: "There are two ways to live your life.  One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle."   Albert Einstein

I will miss the reunion but am enjoying all the updates.  Sending special blessings and well wishes to everyone from 1962 Central.  We grew up and shared life in a special time and place.  I am grateful.
